Hi Michael here my humble thoughts:

    • Recycling does attract Bears because of food contamination
    • Recycling probably best restricted to owners access, the renters and their cleaning staff don't seem to understand or care about the difference between it and trash.
    • Bear proof simple mechanical locks do seem to keep bears out and allow owners and renters to still have access to trash, otherwise they just drop it by the door creating an even bigger mess.

From Michael MacLauchlan - Montezuma Condos

We're considering upgrading / replacing our trash container building and want to consider potential mandatory / future Town of Keystone recycling requirements.

Up until ~a year we offered recycling. However either owners, STR's or cleaning crews commingled recyclables with non recyclables resulting in fines to segregate the recycling from contaminating trash.

I asked the Town of Keystone if they contemplate future mandatory recycling - awaiting their response.

With our trash container building upgrade, we're contemplating offering a location for trash and potentially reinstituting recycling within the same structure / building or potentially having recycling nearby. (I wonder if bears are interested in recycling containers?)

How does your HOA handle recycling?

    If you provide recycling:

Do you restrict recycling access to owners via a code to reduce opportunity for commingling contamination?

Do you have active efforts minimize trash recycling contamination? If so please describe methodology.
