The Sanctuary is looking to buy software to do our own Reserve Studies going forward.  I am interested in comparing the cost of this to what it is currently costing to have a professional third-party reserve study done.  If you have had reserve study completed in the last two years, would you be willing to share with me what the cost of that study was.  Thanks.

Hi Tim, Snake River Village just had a reserve study completed and it was $1,350 with a site visit and photos by ARS. Thanks!

We just did one.  without pictures was under $1,000.  with pictures was about $1,400.  Since we just had a site picture one 2 years ago - we choose the cheaper one.  Took less than 10 days to get back.

Association Reserves did a study with on-site review for Snowdance in early 2024 for $2900 (updates $1350). Our first budget year we used a pared down version of its results fairly directly. This year, we found we needed to reverse engineer their process an build a rather extensive spreadsheet to keep roll it forward.

The key thing that the study bought us was third-party estimates of age expectations and replacement costs for all our infrastructure. We needed it because our old tracking sheets had fallen too far out of date. If you have that information in hand and the price is right, software may make sense for you.

Regardless, next time we contract for a study, we'll make getting soft copy results a priority. Building that spreadsheet by hand was a painful process that probably introduced some errors.
